The POLAR STAR methodology has to main strands: Science as a whole and STEAM Education. Science as a whole focuses on the content and what we teach our students while STEAM Education focuses on the how we teach our students. The two strands are blended together into one seamless approach, the POLAR STAR methodology. As far as teacher training is concerned. Our team has developed two separate workshops, one for each of the mehodology strands. To bring the two parts of our methodology together, we also have designed a merged workshop which intorduces both strands together. That workshop also includes an Orientation activity for teachers based on the Design Thinking approach. This activity aims to help you and your colleagues prepare your lessons/activities/projects and/or a whole school year plan based on the POLAR STAR interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary methodology. POLAR STAR aims to bring together state-of-the-art learning pedagogies and combine them with exciting activities that focus on contemporary science, thus helping teachers to introduce STEAM successfully in their class. At the same time the project will focus on the development of students’ key skills and competences as well as deepening their knowledge of fundamental science principles, increasing their appreciation of science and technology and their role in todays’ societies. POLAR STAR aims to offer an open and innovative training framework to teachers of primary and secondary education which will focus on:

  • Promoting the 'Science as a Whole' concept;
  • Promoting a holistic STEM educational approach;
  • Promote the introduction of contemporary science activities in schools;
