POLAR STAR Summer School 2020 cancelled due to COVID-19
In these challenging times, we are all navigating through uncertainty for ourselves, our loved ones, our students, our colleagues, and our community. We hope you are staying healthy and safe. More than ever, our team is committed to working together with you – dedicated and motivated teachers from all over the word – in delivering the most innovative, effect and meaningful education to our children and students.
Considering the current ongoing public health concerns, we wanted to update you on the effects on our activities. At this time, we have made the difficult decision to suspend all physical on-site workshops, seminars, summer schools and events, until further notice. That concerns all Summer Schools in Marathon – Greece, including the PLATON summer school, planned to take place from 5 to 10 July 2020.
We are all extremely disappointed that we will not be able to meet you in person this year. However, our team of ESIA remains set to support you! We are currently working very hard to prepare a series of online activities, demonstrations, presentations, and interactive webinars related to each of the suspended summer schools. Additionally, over the coming weeks, the ESIA website will be continuously updated and enriched with more educational resources, scenarios, videos, innovative activities, and much more.
There was never a greater need for educators to be trained in the use of digital resources, tools, and resources, and most likely the next school year will have to depend a lot on digital solutions as well. However, COVID-19 is only accelerating the existing and ever-increasing need for more professional development and teacher training opportunities to equip you with the tools, skills, and competences to use digital, innovative teaching practices in an effective way. We will continue to work hard to bring you the training and workshops that you enjoy and need. While it is true that our July 2020 events will no longer take place in the way that we intended, we continue to strive toward our purpose – supporting teachers to excel at their profession. Your commitment to educate, teach and train children is critical – particularly now.
We are looking forward to seeing you in our upcoming events and we hope to be able to welcome you again in Marathon, Greece in 2021 (possible dates: 4-9 & 11-16 July 2021)!!!
